Join Our Team as a 1:1 Tutor – Make a Real Impact in a Child’s Education!

At Teaching Personnel, we are passionate about providing specialized 1-1 tuition to young people who are not currently in formal education. We are urgently seeking compassionate and dedicated tutors who share our passion for supporting education and helping children overcome barriers to learning. Our pupils face a wide range of needs, including:

  • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) such as Autism and learning difficulties.
  • Children in Care needing catch-up tuition due to disrupted schooling.
  • School refusers and students with anxiety or severe mental health challenges.
  • Asylum seekers who need tailored educational support.
  • Pupils who have been excluded from mainstream school settings.

What We Offer:

This role is ideal for retired teachers looking for part-time work or current educators eager to use their skills outside the traditional classroom setting. As a 1-1 tutor, you’ll provide personalized support in the student’s home, as many of our pupils are not in school. Sessions typically range from 1 to 15 hours per week, offering the flexibility to fit your lifestyle.

Subjects You Will Support:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Life Skills
  • Transition support for students preparing to return to school

Our pupils are aged 4 to 19, and you will have the opportunity to work with students in the age group you feel most comfortable with.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ideally, a qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or a similar qualification.
  • Alternatively, an experienced tutor with a passion for education and working with young people.
  • Strong skills in lesson planning and resource preparation.
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to students facing various challenges.
  • A deep understanding of and respect for the diverse backgrounds and needs of the families we support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
