1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Y3)

Location: Central Preston
Position: Full-time, 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Pay: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:45am - 3:30pm

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in Year 3. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s education and well-being. The child has an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP), and you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with ASC, ensuring their learning and social needs are met.
  • Support the child’s emotional and social development, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the child’s individual learning style and needs.
  • Assist with the child’s participation in classroom activities, providing encouragement and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff.
  • Keep accurate records of progress, communicate with parents when necessary, and contribute to reviews of the EHCP.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • A patient, calm, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills, both with children and adults.
  • A good understanding of behaviour management strategies.
  • A qualification in Team Teach or Positive Handling is desirable.
  • Experience working in a primary school setting is preferred but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
