Salary: £150 - £210 per day (Based on experience and pay scale)

About the role and school

This is an exciting opportunity to join an intimate and dynamic SEN school specifically for a year 7 class.

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher to join a specialist school in the Wirral. This school is an SEN school and is recognised as a good school who caters for children with special educational needs and disabilities with effective safeguarding. The successful candidate would be responsible for delivering specialised general lessons to a KS3 class. Also having experience of working in a special education setting with social, emotional, and physical needs is preferred but applicants from mainstream schools are still very welcome with the willingness to support those with SEN.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEP’s) and delivering engaging and accessible lessons tailored to students with SEN and disability needs and assessing and monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment to ensure students feel comfortable.
  • Have the ability to tailor your teaching of good subject and curriculum knowledge to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils who are entering KS3.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and documentation related to student progress, IEP’s and EHCP’s to ensure SEN and disabled students can reach their full potential.
  • Provide daily educational and emotional care to special needs pupils and assist those who need assisting when needed.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) preferred.
  • Enhanced DBS cleared & uploaded to the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • Degree in Science, similar subject area or ability to teach general combined science.
  • Full right to work within the UK.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs is not essential, but is preferred and relevant qualification that links to the role (SEN training) is also preferred but not essential. Just need to have the willingness to care and support for the children.  
  • Patience, empathy and a proactive approach to supporting those with SEN.
