Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher looking for an exciting new challenge? We are seeking a passionate Year 5 Teacher to join our supportive and dynamic team in Portsmouth for a maternity cover position starting after the February half term.

The Role:

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will take on full responsibility for the planning, delivery, and assessment of the curriculum, ensuring a smooth transition for the students and continued progress during the maternity leave period. You will work closely with the Year 5 team to deliver engaging and creative lessons, fostering a positive classroom environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the national curriculum for Year 5.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback to both students and parents.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued.
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the individual needs of students, including those with additional learning requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, ensuring an atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure continuity and progression in learning.
  • Contribute to wider school life through participation in extracurricular activities and school events.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience teaching Year 5 or in Key Stage 2 (desirable).
  • A passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a love of learning.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a stimulating and engaging learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A commitment to the ethos of the school and the academic and personal development of students.
