Welsh Medium Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: As soon as vetting is complete
Salary: £12.90 an hour
About the School:
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a vibrant and welcoming Welsh-medium primary school located in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The school is committed to providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment for all students. We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support children in the Foundation Phase.
The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be playing a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children in the Foundation Phase (Nursery to Year 2). Your time will be split between:
- General Classroom Support: Assisting the class teacher during the morning sessions by providing support to the whole class. You will help with classroom activities, group work, and general learning support for pupils.
- 1:1 Support: In the afternoons, you will work closely with a child in Year 1, providing tailored 1:1 support to assist with their specific learning needs, helping them stay engaged, motivated, and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons
- Provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate in class activities
- Help prepare and maintain a stimulating classroom environment
- Work closely with other staff members to ensure the child’s individual needs are met
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
- Support with outdoor learning activities in line with the Foundation Phase curriculum
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children
- Ability to work 1:1 with children who may require additional support
- A caring, patient, and positive attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Welsh language skills are essential for this role
- All vetting requirements need to be completed, including a valid DBS and registration with the Education Workforce Council

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
