Wellbeing Tutor
Job description
Teaching Personnel is currently working with one of our Partnership Schools and they are excited to share that they are seeking full-time Special Educational Needs (SEN) Wellbeing Tutors to join their expanding team.

We are looking for individuals with a strong understanding of SEN, based in or around the Towcester/Silverstone area.
Job Role:
- To provide support and supervision for pupils aged between 11-16, encouraging their engagement in the learning process and working towards agreed aims and objectives.
- To work as part of a team contributing towards meeting the academic, social, behavioural and emotional needs of young people.
- To plan and teach clear, high-quality lessons to support pupils to make good or outstanding progress and to embed key concepts in their long-term memory.
As this role may require travelling to our Partnership School, applicants must have access to a car and a willingness to transport students if needed. If you are based in surrounding areas, please refer to the bottom of this vacancy for commute times by car.
This is a full-time position, working from 8:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday during term time. We are currently accepting applications for an immediate start (November 2024) or for roles starting after a suitable notice period.
Relevant professional or personal experience in SEN is required for this role.
The SEN Wellbeing Tutor will work alongside the SLT to:
- Support vulnerable young people aged 11 – 16 years, helping to raise their emotional wellbeing and their aspirations to learn.
- To work with pupils 1-2-1 off the school site on intervention days
- Develop an understanding of safeguarding and always make this a priority Implement strategies to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, developing an understanding of their Special Educational Needs.
- Work as part of a team to manage behaviour positively and in line with each pupil’s Behaviour Support Plan Provide specific support, dependent upon their individual needs, ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities.
- To deliver small sections of the learning programme to individual pupils, as directed by the teaching staff.
- Create and maintain a purposeful and supportive environment for pupils.
- Maintain and keep accurate records as required.
- Contribute to the paperwork surrounding the pupils, as directed (record keeping, observations, risk assessment, learning and support plans).
- Prepare materials, displays and resources as directed.
- Work collaboratively with other staff as a colleague in a team.
- Undertake training as agreed with the Line Manager.
- Be responsible for maintaining safe working practices to fully comply with all safeguarding, risk assessment and Health and Safety guidelines and policy.
- Act positively to foster good relationships with the rest of the staff team.
- Maintain confidentiality relating to the pupils, staff and business of the school.
- Participate in practical tasks, such as cleaning or decorating.

In the interests of effective working, the major tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changing needs and circumstances. Such reviews and any consequential changes will be carried out in consultation with the post holder.
ESSENTIAL QUALITIES
- Good general standard of education (GCSE Grade 4/C in English and Maths or equivalent)
- Experience working with children and young people
- Ability to drive
- Willingness to transport children and young people in your own car
- The ability to identify risks and implement strategies to minimise those risks
- The genuine desire to make a positive difference and contribution to the lives of young people
