  • Identifying students who require additional wellbeing support and implementing action plans to assist their development.

  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress and wellbeing to senior staff and parents/carers where appropriate.
  • Participating in staff meetings, training, and continuous professional development to ensure best practices are followed in supporting SEN students.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in mental health, wellbeing, counselling, or a related field (e.g., psychology, education, social work).
  • Experience working with young people, preferably in an SEN or educational setting.
  • A thorough understanding of mental health issues in children and adolescents, and experience in providing pastoral or emotional support.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with both students and staff.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable students.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

Desirable:

  • Experience in delivering therapeutic or wellbeing interventions such as mindfulness, CBT, or art therapy.
  • Knowledge of SEN, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
