Teaching Personnel are actively seeking unqualified teachers, as well as experienced or confident Teaching Assistants, to join our educational team in Secondary Schools across Newport. As a Cover Supervisor, your primary responsibilities will involve overseeing classes when the regular teacher is unavailable, ensuring students stay focused on their assigned tasks, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
The position of an Unqualified Teacher/Cover Supervisor is ideally suited for graduates, upcoming graduates, PGCE candidates, or Teaching Assistants seeking to advance their careers. This provides an opportunity for flexible supply work in the classroom, allowing you to develop your teaching skills and gain valuable experience.
Location: Newport
Hours: Flexible
Pay: £100 per day minimum
Start Date: ASAP
The ideal candidate will:
- Supervise classes across various subjects and year groups in the absence of regular teaching staff.
- Present pre-planned lessons and adhere to established lesson plans.
- Strong communication and behaviour managements skills.
- Adjust approaches and strategies based on the specific needs of different classroom environments.
- Possess a genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting young people in their learning journey.
- Ensure all safeguarding and behavioural policies are followed.
Requirements:
- While no formal teaching qualifications are required, we prioritise educators who display a high level of enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
- Experience working with children, preferably within a school meeting.
- DBS and Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration is needed – Teaching Personnel can assist you with applying for these.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
