Teaching Personnel are recruiting for Trainee Teaching Assistants to join us in the new academic year, starting in September 2024.   There are a variety of roles available including full time, part time and flexible shift work.  Depending on your circumstance we can match you to the right school and role for you!

This is a brilliant opportunity for people that are interested in beginning, and pursuing a career within the education sector.  All of our Trainee Teaching Assistant roles will be supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN).  Prior experience supporting ALN is desirable, however not essential as we are able to offer training throughout the summer holidays.

In this role you will support pupils between ages 11-16 across all year groups. This post will involve working with pupils on a one-to-one basis, within small groups within the base or supporting in mainstream. The successful candidates will be able to familiarise themselves with the educational needs of pupils and draw on information provided by the school and SENCO in order to provide the best support possible.

We are looking for people who are  motivated, patient and supportive.

The Role:

  • Trainee Teaching Assistant within Secondary Schools
  • Hours approximately 8:30am – 3:30pm per day
  • Term time only
  • Newport – your choice of school within the following areas: NP18, NP19, NP10, or NP20.
  • £12.82 – £14.88 per hour (dependant on experience)

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting classroom teachers in delivering lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with additional learning needs
  • Helping to create engaging and interactive learning materials.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and implementing the school’s behaviour management policies.
  • Participating in extracurricular activities and school events.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
