Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Learning & Pastoral Support
Location: Burnley, Lancashire
Start Date: January 2025

An Ofsted rated GOOD secondary school in Burnley, Lancashire, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their permanent staff team in January 2025. The successful candidate will provide crucial support across both learning and pastoral areas, contributing to the overall success and well-being of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learning Support: Assist teachers in delivering high-quality lessons, supporting students with varied learning needs, and helping to implement individual education plans.
- Pastoral Care: Provide support and guidance to students, fostering a positive and inclusive environment, and addressing any social or emotional issues.
- Behaviour Management: Assist in maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom, implementing strategies to support student progress and wellbeing.
- Administrative Duties: Help with preparing resources, tracking student progress, and contributing to the development of educational materials.
Requirements:
- Qualification: HLTA status or equivalent qualification. A Level 4 or above qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a similar field, is essential.
- Experience: Significant experience working in an educational setting, ideally with secondary school students. Experience in both learning support and pastoral care is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge: Understanding of the curriculum and strategies for supporting diverse learning needs and managing classroom behaviour.
- Commitment: A passion for supporting students' educational and emotional development, with a commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
