About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team in Wimborne, Dorset, on a supply basis. As a supply TA, you will have the opportunity to work in a range of educational settings, providing support to teachers and assisting students with their learning. Whether you are helping with classroom activities, offering one-on-one support, or promoting a positive learning environment, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of students.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in support work, care, or sports coaching, looking to transition into a classroom setting or broaden their professional experience. Experience in an SEN (Special Educational Needs) environment is a desirable skill, and those with this background will be well-suited to work with students who may require additional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their learning, ensuring they understand lesson material and complete tasks effectively.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with additional needs, fostering their academic and personal development.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning resources and materials.
  • Promote positive behaviour and assist in maintaining a focused, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Assist teachers with the delivery of lesson plans and classroom activities.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities such as sports clubs, supporting students' physical and social development.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and development.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents to create a supportive educational environment.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in support work, care, or sports coaching.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their education and development.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in sports coaching is a plus, particularly for roles involving physical education or extracurricular activities.
  • Previous classroom or educational support experience is an advantage, but not essential.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in an SEN (Special Educational Needs) environment.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience working with children with additional learning needs (SEND).
  • DBS Check (if not already registered on the Update Service).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
