Job Title: Full-Time Teaching Assistant 
Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
Start Date: February 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for permanent contract until July 2025)

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Barry, starting in February 2025. In this role, you will working on a 1:1 basis with a student in the Foundation Phase, providing tailored support to meet their individual learning needs and working alongisde the teacher. You wil be joining a supportive team of teachers and teaching assistants that all work collaboratively as a team. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support as a general teaching assistant and 1:1 support in Foundation Phase class, helping with academic and social development.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons and provide additional support to ensure students are fully engaged in classroom activities.
  • Provide a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to monitor progress and implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of resources and materials for lessons. 
  • Help manage classroom behavior and promote positive social interactions.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children, ideally in an educational setting or relevant experience.
  • Be patient, understanding, and adaptable, with the ability to form strong, supportive relationships with children, staff and parents.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Reliable and committed to the role.
  • Hold or be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check and register for the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children with additional learning needs (ALN) would be beneficial.
  • A good understanding of the Foundation Phase curriculum in Wales.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
