Job description

We are currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants with Paediatric First Aid to work within the Truro area.

Position: Teaching Assistant with Paediatric First Aid
Location: Truro, Cornwall
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a current Paediatric First Aid qualification to work across our primary schools and nurseries within Truro. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children, providing essential support within the classroom and ensuring the well-being of students in line with our commitment to safeguarding and nurturing their development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general classroom support to teachers, assisting with the delivery of lessons and activities.
  • Offer one-to-one and group support for children, particularly those with additional needs or requiring extra guidance.
  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, ensuring the welfare and safety of all students.
  • Administer first aid to students when needed, ensuring prompt response to any minor injuries or medical incidents.
  • Support students with health and medical needs as required, in conjunction with school policies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of classroom resources and activities.
  • Monitor students' progress, providing feedback to the class teacher to support their learning.
  • Support children during outdoor play, lunchtimes, and other school activities as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Have a valid Paediatric First Aid certificate (or be willing to obtain one if necessary).
  • Have previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Be calm, confident, and able to react effectively in emergency situations.
  • Be empathetic, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be flexible, proactive, and able to work as part of a team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
