Located in Southampton, the school is a supportive and dynamic learning environment dedicated to educating 300 pupils with severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), profound and multiple learning difficulties, and sensory and complex needs. With a strong focus on a child-centred approach, they celebrate every achievement, no matter how small or large, and strive to foster independence in all their pupils as they prepare for adulthood.

The Role: They are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join their passionate team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in helping to create a safe and nurturing environment where our students can thrive. You will work closely with pupils, building strong relationships that support their emotional and educational development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized support to pupils with a variety of complex needs, helping them to engage fully with their education.
  • Assist in implementing individualized learning plans and contribute to the development of each pupil’s unique strengths and abilities.
  • Foster a safe, comfortable, and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and supported.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and a multi-agency team, including nurses, therapists, and social care professionals, to ensure holistic support for each pupil.
  • Encourage and celebrate pupils’ progress, no matter the size of the achievement, and help them build the skills necessary for greater independence.
  • Support pupils in their journey towards adulthood, preparing them for the next stage of their lives with confidence and self-sufficiency.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A compassionate and patient individual with a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, creating a supportive environment where they can thrive.
  • Experience in a similar role or in supporting children with severe learning difficulties, ASC, or complex needs is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A commitment to the school’s ethos of celebrating individual achievements and promoting independence.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
