Teaching Assistant
Job description
Are you looking for a new role working with Secondary aged children in one of many schools we work with in Northampton?
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide support to the class teacher, helping to deliver high quality and engaging lessons. You will be required to work in both a classroom setting and small group settings, tailoring your approach and teaching style depending on the requirements of the child. Some of our Teaching Assistant vacancies require someone who has previous experience working with children with SEND, and will be able to provide a high quality level of support to these children.
The ideal Teaching Assistant will have a passion for supporting pupils with behavioural needs and will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote positive behaviour and enhance student learning experiences.
To be successful in our roles you will require:
• Level 2+ Teaching Assistant Qualification (NVQ / CACHE preferable)
• Excellent working knowledge of the Primary curriculum
• Recent primary school experience within the last 2 years
• Right to Work in the UK
• Clear Enhanced Child Workforce on the Update Service (if you do not have this, we will require you to apply for a new DBS)
• Able to provide at least 2 references to cover a minimum of 2 years
You will need:
• Proven track record of strong and consistent behaviour management
• Experience of working closely with parents in successful home-school partnerships that support pupils’ needs
• A working knowledge of relevant and effective SEN interventions and how to support pupils with SEND
• Skilled at making and sustaining positive relationships with children
• Able to stimulate children’s interest in learning
• Able to work closely with pupils who are finding learning difficult, or those who have experienced a feeling of failure
• Skilled at developing children’s self-esteem and motivation so that they become resilient, independent learners
• Capable of delivering intervention work and maintaining appropriate records
• Knowledge and understanding of how children learn
• Familiar with IT and its educational uses or approaches
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
