Are you looking for a rewarding role as a Teaching Assistant for a class of pupils with Additional Learning Needs?

Job Title: ALN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:40 – 15:40

Pay: Minimum £11.85ph

Start: ASAP

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a partnership school based in Newport, to support a class in the schools LRB unit. The classroom has 10 children all of which have severe ASD and some with behavioural issues. Therefore, we are seeking a strong, resilient and patient teaching assistant to support this class and those pupils. The successful candidate will need to be able to work closely with the other teaching assistants and class teacher to provide a safe and supportive environment to help the pupils to thrive.

A Successful Teaching Assistant will require:

  • To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
  • Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
  • To be strong and resilient when facing challenging behaviour.

Whilst having experience working with children who have ALN in a professional setting is desirable, we welcome applications from people who have personal experience or someone who is willing to fully engage and develop skills in the area.

  

ALN Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

  • Working in a small class of pupils all with ALN within the LRB unit.
  • Being a positive and encouraging staff member, supporting the children to grow and develop.
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents and provide social and emotional support.
  • Create a positive and caring, safe environment for the pupils to thrive.
  • Adhere to school’s safeguarding and protection policies.
  • Strong teamwork with fellow teaching assistants and teachers.
  • Adapt to various situations as they arise, demonstrating flexibility in response to evolving needs.

This school is based in Newport and is easily accessible via public transport. They have around 600 pupils. They have two dedicated class bases to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
