Job description

 Teaching Personnel is currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a one-to-one basis with a child in a Key Stage 2 class at an outstanding primary school in Newcastle.The school has reached out to us for support in meeting their growing need for experienced and reliable SEN staff. The school serves a diverse and inclusive community, welcoming pupils and staff from all backgrounds.

The role involves working closely with a child with mild autism and communication needs, ensuring they are supported in the classroom and throughout the school environment. This is a full-time position, with the potential to transition into a permanent role for candidates who meet performance expectations.

This opportunity is ideal for Level 2/3 Teaching Assistants, graduates, or individuals with prior experience working with children or young people. Those with a background in youth work or similar roles are also encouraged to apply.


The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN.
  • Be passionate about working with children and supporting their development.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and engaging in their approach to learning support.
  • Be enthusiastic about education and dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Be supportive and proactive in the classroom and throughout the school day.
  • Hold or be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce only).
