A secondary pupil referral unit in Manchester are looking for Teaching Assistants to take on full-time roles. The roles will be based within the nurture unit in the school, where you will work with KS2-KS4 pupils who have additional needs that mean that are not able to attend a mainstream school. The majority of the children will have ASC or autism traits, and may display challenging behaviour. They also may not be able to attend a set of structured lessons due to these needs, and learn in a way that is tailored to each individual.

Within these roles, you will work with small groups of students to help them focus and to ensure that their needs are being met through the school day. You may be asked to provide interventions and occasionally work 1:1 with students that require extra support. You will also work with other members of staff and teachers to provide a cohesive support network and ensure that each student is progressing in line with their EHCP.

For these roles you should:

-          Have previous experience working within a school or education environment

-          Have previous experience dealing with difficult behaviour in a calm and effective way

-          Be able to adapt the way you work to different individual needs

-          Be available full-time

-          Be Team Teach trained or be willing to undertake the qualification through Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
