General Teaching Assistant Role
Position: Teaching Assistant (Reception Class)
Start Date: 20th January (Ongoing)
School Type: Independent School, Haywards Heath
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 am – 3:45 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing support to Reception class pupils in their daily learning activities.
- Assisting with the preparation and delivery of engaging lessons, ensuring that every child feels encouraged and included.
- Working closely with the class teacher to manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
- Offering 1:1 or small group support to pupils, including those with additional learning needs, to help improve their engagement and understanding.
- Supporting children with their personal, social, and emotional development.
- Encouraging participation in activities to enhance pupils’ confidence and social skills.
- Helping maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Supporting children during breaks, lunchtimes, and other transitions throughout the school day.
Requirements:
- A genuine passion for working with young children, fostering a love of learning from an early age.
- The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Previous experience working with young children or in a classroom setting (preferred but not essential).
- Patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm in supporting young learners.
- A proactive approach to assisting with general classroom duties and helping pupils reach their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
