Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have access to the curriculum, and helping them achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they are able to access learning activities and participate fully in classroom life.
- Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement personalized learning plans for students.
- Assist with the delivery of tailored interventions, supporting students' emotional, social, and academic development.
- Monitor and track students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
- Support students with their personal care needs, where necessary, and assist with mobility.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Attend and contribute to meetings and training sessions as needed.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- A passion for working with children and supporting those with additional needs.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), is desirable but not essential.
- A good understanding of various learning difficulties and special educational needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to manage challenging behavior in a calm and positive manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from class teachers and the SENCO.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience.
- First Aid certification (or willingness to undertake training).
- Knowledge of specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia, autism, ADHD, etc.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
