Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to support a SEMH provision in Blackburn. The school caters for 11–16-year-olds with complex SEMH difficulties; therefore, many children who attend the school display challenging behaviours.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to support the children across the curriculum and, with a nurturing approach, cultivate their skills. You must also encourage students, in line with the school’s ethos, to help them become more independent and confident.

The successful candidate must be:

  • Extremely resilient.
  • Patient and persistent.
  • Build good rapport with the children you are supporting.

As many children who attend this school are often disengaged from education, the school has a broad and varied curriculum. Therefore, the successful candidate should be able to cultivate this interest and ensure to remain positive even in difficult situations.

Previous experience supporting children with SEMH/Challenging behaviour is desirable, however, the applicant must have a desire to support pupils with additional needs and in wanting to raise their attainment and social skills.

  • Fulltime role from 8:00am – 3:20 pm Monday Thursday and on Friday 8:00am – 3:00pm.
  • Start date: September
  • Pay: £12.90 per hour.
  • Temporary to permanent
  • Support in your professional development
