Teaching Assistants for Pupils with Hearing Impairments (HI)

Location: Cardiff, South Wales
Salary: Competitive, Based on Experience
Contract: Full-Time or Part-Time Options Available
Start Date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils with hearing impairments (HI) in a supportive and inclusive school environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners. There is typically only one school per local authority who provide tailored provisions for pupils with HI, we are seeking staff who have the desire to help pupils with such additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with hearing impairments, helping them to fully access the curriculum.
  • Assist in the development of effective strategies to enhance learning and communication.
  • Work closely with teachers and specialists to ensure individual learning needs are met.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student confidence and independence.

Requirements:

  • At least B grades in GCSE core subjects (English, Maths, and Science) to provide effective academic support.
  • A desire to work with pupils with hearing impairments and a commitment to their success.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and empathy.
  • British Sign Language (BSL) is not essential as not all pupils in the provision are completely deaf.
  • Personal or professional experience with hearing impairments is highly valued.
