Job Title: Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support for Pupil with Autism

Location: Primary School, Cardiff

Job Type: Full-time, temporary term contract (September - July)

Hours: Full-time, 32.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, term-time only)

Salary: £83.85 per day

Job Description:

A lovely Primary School in Cardiff are seeking an experienced and caring Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with autism in a Key Stage 2 class. The successful candidate will be able to build a strong and positive relationship with the pupil, parents, and school staff.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the pupil to develop their social, emotional, and academic skills, and provide additional support to help them access the curriculum. You will also work closely with the SENco to ensure that the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP) is implemented and reviewed regularly.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to the pupil with autism in the classroom and during break times
  • Develop and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with the pupil, parents, and school staff
  • Implement the pupil's IEP and contribute to regular reviews and updates
  • Work closely with the SENco to identify and address any areas of need or concern
  • Support the pupil's transition between lessons and activities
  • Assist with preparing materials and resources for lessons
  • Maintain accurate records of the pupil's progress and achievements

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs
  • Ability to build strong relationships with children and adults
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Patience, understanding, and empathy when working with children who may have challenging behaviours
