Join our team at Teaching Personnel and embark on an enriching journey with 1 of our respected schools in the North of Hampshire, dedicated to nurturing children with SEN/SEMH.

The children you will be supporting have a range of additional needs: Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Learning Difficulties, Behaviour Issues. They may also have feeding tubes and/or be in wheelchairs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in shaping classrooms, providing vital support to students with diverse needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Prior experience in SEN/SEMH settings, personal or professional.
  • Enthusiasm for unlocking each student's potential.
  • Commitment to addressing diverse needs and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and reliability.
  • Embraces challenges as growth opportunities.

Full-time hours: 08:30 to 15:30 - these hours may differ slightly depending on the school.

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience in working with children and/or adults who have Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs.

The successful candidate will need to have a passion for supporting students’ mental health, and assist with creating a nurturing learning environment.

The TA will be working closely with staff and students in order to effectively assist and guide students through any challenges they may have.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and self-care techniques.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
  • Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting. We will also consider those with experience supporting adults with similar needs.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
