Science Teacher Required for Secondary School in Andover

Position: Science Teacher
Location: Andover, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2024
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: Longer-term with potential to transition to a temp-to-perm role

Are you a passionate Science educator ready to inspire the next generation of scientists? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Science Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Andover starting in September 2024.

About the Role:
As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching students across the age and attainment range at Key Stage 3 and 4. Your role will involve delivering engaging and effective lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring all students are supported in reaching their academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective Teaching: Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons that are engaging, challenging, and accessible to all students, in line with the school’s aims and policies.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Provide a broad, balanced, and ambitious Science curriculum that inspires students and fosters a love for the subject.
  • Extra-Curricular Involvement: Actively participate in the school’s extra-curricular activities, contributing to a well-rounded educational experience for students.
  • Student Progress: Monitor and support the academic progress and personal development of students as both a Science teacher and a form tutor.
  • Raising Standards: Play a key role in raising student attainment in Science, ensuring that all students achieve their best and that value is added in the context of the school’s goals.
  • Professional Development: Engage with opportunities for personal and professional growth, contributing to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning within the Science department.
  • Professional Duties: Carry out responsibilities as detailed in the Conditions of Service, maintaining the high standards expected by the school.

Who Should Apply?

  • Qualified Teachers with QTS or equivalent.
  • ECTs (Early Career Teachers) qualifying this year are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Unqualified teachers with a strong Science background and a commitment to education are also welcome.
  • A deep understanding of the Science curriculum, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching are essential.
  • A Safer Recruitment in Education check will be required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
