Student Support Officer Wanted in Newport

 

Location: Newport
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £105 - £120 per day
Sector: Secondary Education
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00

 

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is excited to recruit a Student Support Officer for one of our partner schools in Newport. In this role, you will be part of the inclusion team, working towards the school’s behaviour management strategy. The ideal candidate will promote positive behaviour, support the Student Support Centre, coordinate appropriate activities, and create a calm working environment for students facing behavioural challenges. We seek an individual with strong behaviour management skills who can effectively bridge the gap between students and teaching staff.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Strong behaviour management and conflict de-escalation skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • NVQ Level 3 in Teaching Assistance or equivalent qualification, or 6 months relevant experience

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support students by removing them from mainstream classes and working with them one-on-one in the Student Support Centre
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Show initiative and collaborate effectively within a team
  • Engage in the school’s performance management process
  • Work flexibly as needed

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate (we can assist you in obtaining this)
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Two professional references covering the past 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
