Special Need Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is in collaboration with a special provision in Weston-Super-Mare who are looking for their next teaching assistant to join their warm, welcoming team. The teachers and TA’s go above the students educational needs and support them in their daily basic needs and give them a voice when they can’t speak for themselves.
The children do have high needs and may need supporting with walking as some may be in wheelchairs or using crutches, they will need assistance with PC and potentially medicine and feeding. This role is open to those who have supported all ages outside the classroom as your expertise is very desire along with an open mind and a playfulness to you!
Position Details:
- Start Date: Full-time, beginning in February and after the half-term
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm (term time only); flexible work arrangements available to support work/life balance
- Pay: £84 - £100/ day, paid weekly
- Additional Benefits: Accessible transport routes and a potential for contract extension
About the role:
- No prior teaching experience required; bring your enthusiasm, and we’ll provide the support
- Small class sizes (6-8 pupils max), enabling strong, supportive relationships with each student
- The opportunity grow and develop your personal learning and training through on the job experience and training
- A fulfilling experience in supporting children’s learning and social development in a friendly, disability-focused environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be confident, proactive, and resilient when working with challenging behaviour
- Enjoy interactive play and engagement with young children, bringing a positive attitude and sense of humour
- Work well in a team and be open to feedback and growth
- Ideally have some experience with children or young people with disabilities, though we welcome those who are new to this area
- Has experience working in the care sector with children or adults. Desirable but not essential
- Has an open mind to the different types of support you need to provide.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
