Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Needed

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in the Wellingborough area. The successful candidate will work in a Key Stage 2 (KS2) class that includes students with special educational needs (SEN) who may display challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to students with SEN, both in groups and on a one-to-one basis.
• Assist the class teacher in creating and implementing individualized learning plans.
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to support and guide students.
• Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students with their social, emotional, and academic development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff members.
• Monitor and record students’ progress and report to the class teacher and SEN coordinator.
• Assist with classroom activities, including preparation and clearing up of resources.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, specifically with SEN students.
• Strong understanding of the challenges and strategies involved in managing challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• A relevant qualification in education or childcare is desirable but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
