Job Opportunity: Senior LSA – Cover Supervisor Role (SEND Secondary School, Basingstoke)
Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) looking to take the next step in your career? A small SEND secondary school in Basingstoke is seeking a Senior LSA to step into a Cover Supervisor role, covering classes during teacher absences. This unique opportunity allows you to be based in one school, building strong, consistent relationships with pupils and staff to ensure effective classroom management and positive outcomes.
The role is initially temporary through Teaching Personnel, with the potential to transition to a permanent contract if mutually agreed.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the usual teacher
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment, fostering positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Work closely with the school staff to understand and implement strategies tailored to the needs of pupils with SEMH and additional needs
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional and academic development
- Collaborate with teaching staff and support teams to ensure consistency in approach and communication
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an LSA or in a similar support role, ideally within SEND settings
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster positive behaviour
- A proactive, adaptable attitude with a focus on creating a safe and inclusive environment
- Confidence in leading a class independently when required
- Knowledge of SEMH needs and associated behaviours is highly desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
