Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated part-time SENDCo to join a successful and highly oversubscribed secondary school with a thriving Sixth Form, serving a vibrant community in North West Bristol. This is a part-time, maternity cover position.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Leading the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) so that each child makes individual progress
- Providing professional leadership and management of Inclusion throughout the School to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for SEND students
- Acting as the lead professional for SEND, carrying out reviews and advising colleagues as required.
- Leading collaborative work with external agencies including Alternative Provision to meet the needs of students.
- Working with other leaders in the school to develop and maintain excellence in teaching and learning.
- Teaching students within the school and carrying out such duties as are reasonably assigned by the headteacher to ensure the effective operation of the school.
- Taking a strategic lead in developing collaborative partnerships, with schools and other organisations.
Job requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent alongside an Honours degree
- Essential experience within team leadership and implementation of SEN policies
- A sound knowledge of Child Safeguarding and the SEN code of practice
- Ability to plan and evaluate interventions, using data analysis skills to review EHCP pupils and inform plans for provision
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
