Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated part-time SENDCo to join a successful and highly oversubscribed secondary school with a thriving Sixth Form, serving a vibrant community in North West Bristol. The school are committed to inspiring and encouraging every child to reach their full potential, equipping students with the skills needed for academic and personal growth, helping them thrive both socially and emotionally.

This is a part-time, maternity cover position.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Leading the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) so that each child makes individual progress
  • Providing professional leadership and management of Inclusion throughout the School to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for SEND students
  • Acting as the lead professional for SEND, carrying out reviews and advising colleagues as required.
  • Leading collaborative work with external agencies including Alternative Provision to meet the needs of students.
  • Working with other leaders in the school to develop and maintain excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Teaching students within the school and carrying out such duties as are reasonably assigned by the headteacher to ensure the effective operation of the school.
  • Taking a strategic lead in developing collaborative partnerships, with schools and other organisations.

Job requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent alongside an Honours degree
  • Essential experience within team leadership and implementation of SEN policies
  • A sound knowledge of Child Safeguarding and the SEN code of practice
  • Ability to plan and evaluate interventions, using data analysis skills to review EHCP pupils and inform plans for provision
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
