About Us:

At this school, we are dedicated to providing an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally, with tailored support that meets their unique needs.

The Role:

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Autism Support Assistant to join our team. Your role will be vital in creating a safe, encouraging, and structured environment where each student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for students with autism in classroom settings and throughout the school day.
  • Assist with implementing individual learning plans (ILPs) and sensory strategies to support students' learning and emotional needs.
  • Encourage positive communication, social interaction, and independence in students.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure each student’s needs are met.
  • Help manage and reduce challenging behaviors, using appropriate techniques and strategies.
  • Support students with personal care tasks (where necessary) in a respectful and sensitive manner.
  • Assist students during break times, lunchtimes, and other non-classroom activities, promoting inclusion and engagement.
  • Provide regular updates on student progress and any concerns to the teaching team.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with autism or other SEN.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to manage challenging behavior calmly and constructively.
  • An understanding of autism and the specific challenges it can present in a school setting (training or qualifications in SEN are an advantage but not essential).
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support are desirable but not required.

Why Work With Us?

  • Be part of a dedicated and supportive team passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people.
  • Access to professional development opportunities and SEN-specific training.
