An Ofsted-rated GOOD primary school in Bristol is seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join their team on a permanent basis starting in January 2025. The school prides itself on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure appropriate strategies and interventions are in place.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Provide training and guidance to staff on SEN best practices.
- Liaise with parents, ensuring they are fully involved in their child's learning journey.
- Monitor and track the progress of SEND pupils, making adjustments as necessary.
- Ensure the school is compliant with SEND legislation and maintain excellent standards of care and support for pupils with additional needs.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or be willing to complete it within three years of appointment).
- Proven experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting.
- A deep understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A passion for inclusive education and a commitment to providing high-quality support for pupils with additional needs.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience in a SENCO role or similar leadership position.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- The ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and external professionals.
- A creative and proactive approach to SEN provision.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
