We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Trauma Teaching Assistant to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide one-on-one support to a student who is facing difficulties with school integration due to challenges at home. Your primary goal will be to help this student reintegrate into the classroom environment and engage with the curriculum effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the student in navigating their daily school activities, promoting a sense of safety and belonging.
- Assist with emotional regulation and coping strategies to help the student manage their feelings and behaviors.
- Foster positive relationships with the student, encouraging trust and open communication.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to implement tailored learning strategies that accommodate the student’s unique needs.
- Monitor and track the student’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes engagement and participation.
About You:
- A good understanding of the behaviors exhibited by children with trauma, including emotional and social challenges.
- Empathy, patience, and a resilient approach to working with children facing difficulties.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in a support role within an educational setting is preferred.
- A commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in the school environment.
