  • Outreach: Engage with the local community to support students' transition from the classroom to real-world settings, facilitating activities outside of the school, such as work placements, trips, and social engagement programs.
  • Communication: Work closely with families, external agencies, and other school staff to ensure a cohesive support network for each child’s educational and social development.
  • Behaviour Management: Assist in managing student behaviour in line with the school’s policies, promoting a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Emotional Support: Provide pastoral care to students, helping to manage any emotional or behavioural challenges they may face and promoting positive mental health and well-being.
  • Adaptable Learning Approaches: Assist in the development of individualised learning plans (EHCPs), ensuring that each student’s unique needs are met with creative and effective strategies.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track and report on the academic and personal progress of students, feeding back to teaching staff, SEN coordinators, and parents as needed.

Person Specification:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN in either a classroom or outreach capacity is essential. Experience with both primary and secondary-aged students is desirable.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver personalised learning support.
  • Driving Licence: A full, clean UK driving licence is required as the role involves some off-site community outreach work.
