SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time in York
Teaching Personnel is looking for a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in York. This full-time position will commence in October and continue until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role based on performance.
Role Overview:
- Provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and engage in their learning.
- Work one-to-one or in small groups with students who require additional help, adapting teaching strategies to meet their individual needs.
- Assist class teachers in delivering lessons, focusing on differentiated instruction to support SEN students.
- Help implement personalised learning plans (PLPs), ensuring that targets are met and progress is regularly reviewed.
- Offer emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them build confidence, self-regulation, and social skills.
- Liaise with SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), teachers, and parents to ensure consistent support and communication regarding student progress.
- Support students in a variety of settings, including mainstream classrooms and specialised interventions, ensuring an inclusive and nurturing environment.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on the educational journey of young people with SEN. You will play a key role in fostering an inclusive learning environment, where all students can thrive and succeed.
Key Details:
- Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
- Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
- Start date: October, with the role continuing until the end of the academic year. There is potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
