SEN Teaching Assistant – Wigan

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs? Schools across Wigan are seeking enthusiastic and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams. Positions are available for January and Easter start dates, offering full-time roles in a supportive and rewarding environment.

Role Overview

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students identified as having additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties, or other challenges. You’ll play a crucial role in the classroom, providing tailored support to enhance students’ learning experiences and boost their confidence. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and SEN department to implement Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Regularly report on student progress to teachers and support staff.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting students with special educational needs in a school or educational environment is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or Moderate Learning Difficulties.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to working with young people.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
