Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistants to join their team in assisting their most vulnerable students.
This position will be in Tameside. It will be a full-time position, starting immediately and lasting for the duration of the academic year. This position would be ideal for a recent psychology graduate looking to begin a career in education.
The salary for this position will be between £420 and £450 per week.
The key responsibilities of this position are:
- Assisting the most vulnerable pupils in the school by working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to target their learning requirements.
- Understanding the requirements that are needed by children who receive SEN support, such as following Educational Healthcare Plans (EHCPs).
- Understanding the behavioural traits and how to manage the behaviour of the pupils.
- Monitoring the progress of pupils, giving feedback to the teachers, the children and the parents as needed.
- Understanding all aspects of safeguarding.
- Building relationships with the pupils in order to most effectively support their learning development.
This school is in Staybridge and is easily commutable to via public transport or a car from the surrounding areas of Ashton-Under-Lyne, Hyde, Dukinfield and Mossley.

This position is also highly rewarding as you will be supporting children who require additional support in their learning. You will be given access to safeguarding training courses. For the right candidate, there is the potential for a permanent position with the opportunity to go onto further teacher training.
For this position, it is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check. You must be fully aware of all safeguarding procedures with an understanding of how to deal with a range of situations. You also must be able to provide at least two employment-based references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
