SEN Teaching Assistant

We are supporting an outstanding SEN school in York, seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team in January. This rewarding role focuses on supporting children with special educational needs, providing emotional reassurance, and helping them thrive in a classroom setting.

The Role

• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, term-time only.
• Long-term position in a well-regarded SEN school.
• Primary responsibility: provide one-to-one support for a pupil with high emotional needs, helping them settle in the classroom environment and achieve positive learning outcomes.
• Additional responsibilities: assist across the wider classroom, manage behaviour, and support all students in meeting curriculum standards.
• This role offers a highly rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference in a child’s development.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

• A relevant qualification or experience in working with children.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN or emotional needs.
• Strong communication and nurturing skills to provide emotional reassurance.
• Availability to work 5 days a week. (Flexible roles may be available—please inquire.)
• Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to apply for a Child Workforce DBS.
