SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are supporting an outstanding SEN school in York, seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team in January. This rewarding role focuses on supporting children with special educational needs, providing emotional reassurance, and helping them thrive in a classroom setting.
The Role
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, term-time only.
- Long-term position in a well-regarded SEN school.
- Primary responsibility: provide one-to-one support for a pupil with high emotional needs, helping them settle in the classroom environment and achieve positive learning outcomes.
- Additional responsibilities: assist across the wider classroom, manage behaviour, and support all students in meeting curriculum standards.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant qualification or experience in working with children.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN or emotional needs.
- Strong communication and nurturing skills to provide emotional reassurance.
- Availability to work 5 days a week. (Flexible roles may be available—please inquire.)
- Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to apply for a Child Workforce DBS.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
