Job description

Teaching Personnel is looking to appoint a highly motivated, resourceful and committed Teaching Assistant to work in a SEN School South Bath within the Odd Down area.

The school is a Specialist School for Physical and Sensory as well as a school of Creativity. Offering the full National Curriculum as a basis for curriculum development and add to this a wide range of additional activities for personal and social growth. All pupils are encouraged and supported to access learning and achieve the highest possible standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated learning activities.
  • Support students in developing essential skills, such as communication, social interaction, and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student assessments and reports.
  • Assist with classroom management, including supporting positive behaviour and helping to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to further enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN support.

The successful educator will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A flexible and adaptable attitude, with the ability to respond to the varying needs of students.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
