Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Leyland, Lancashire
Start date: November 2024
Contract length: initially until the end of the academic year, however likely to extend
An Ofsted rated “good” Secondary School in Leyland, Lancashire are seeking to appoint a an outgoing, enthusiastic and flexible individual to take on the role of a SEN Teaching Assistant after the Easter holidays. The successful individual must be someone who enjoys working with young people, someone who puts children first and has good communication and organisational skills.
The main responsibilities of this role would require the successful candidate to work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff to implement agreed work programmes with a named student, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
The primary focus will be to maintain good order and to keep a named student on task and respond to any questions. The successful candidate must therefore be friendly, approachable, and reliable.
It is essential that the successful candidate has previous experience supporting young people. It is desirable that this is in a school setting, but however not vital as full training and continued support from specialists will be available.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
