Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking new Learning Support Assistants in Bedford to work within a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) School catering for pupils with complex needs.

The attending pupils have mixed ability but are working across the Primary Curriculum but commonly at low level.

Applicants will be mainly working in a classroom supporting teachers and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils, however pupils are allowed a lot of opportunity for outdoor time as well as access to local swimming pool on Fridays. This brings a very rewarding opportunity for any sporty orientated candidates.


The Role:

Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting teachers and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils.

The role will operate between 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday.

Full time is preferable.


The Candidate:

Ideal applicants should have previous experience working with complex behaviour or challenging needs professionally. Without school experience any professional experience with the following could help the candidate succeed in this role:

  • Psychology
  • Youth/Community work experience
  • Care worker
  • Challenging behaviour within family
  • Mentoring 
  • SEN Experience

Teaching Personnel do offer many development courses through our CPD Academy; such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding and Team Teach to help support any successful candidates within this environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
