Skills: Brilliant behaviour control, Ability to calm and de-escalate, Knowledge of SEN requirements, Ability to work alongside the teacher

Job Description

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to a pupil with Downs Syndrome who will be in Year 6 from September, working at a much lower year level. Your role will involve:

  • Having experience with Downs Syndrome, Autism, and children working significantly below their chronological age
  • Demonstrating knowledge of working with visual supports and timetables
  • Adapting learning activities to meet the pupil's needs
  • Reacting quickly to any situations that may arise
  • Building relationships with the pupil quickly and effectively
  • Working with children who have language difficulties
  • Consistently maintaining firm behaviour management

Required Qualifications:

SEN teaching assistant qualification or relevant experience

Education:

Previous experience working with SEN students

Experience:

Experience with Downs Syndrome, Autism, and children working below their chronological age

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to adapt learning activities
  • Excellent behaviour control
  • Knowledge of SEN requirements
  • Ability to work effectively alongside the teacher

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional training in SEN support

Working Conditions:

This role involves working closely with the teacher and the pupil, adapting to their needs and providing support throughout the school day. The ability to remain calm and react quickly to any situations is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
