Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant 

Location: Derby, UK.  

Job Type: Full-time

We are currently seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team and make a meaningful contribution to the lives of students living with diverse needs.  

Job Description:  

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will pay a crucial role in supporting students with special needs within the classroom environment. Your responsibilities will include, assisting with whole class support as well as providing 1-1 support to students who require additional support.  

Key responsibilities: 

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, on a one-to-one basis and in group settings.  

  • Assist the class teacher in creating and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans.  

  • Support the delivery of differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all children. 

  • Assist students with personal care tasks, where needed, ensuring comfort and well-being. 

  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers.  

  • Encourage and promote social interactions and emotional development. 

Requirements:  

  • Previous experience of working with children with Special Educational needs. 

  • Relevant qualification (eg CACHE Level 2 / Level 3 , SEN qualifications are highly desirable). 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Patience, empathy and a nurturing attitude.  

  • Enhanced Child-Only DBS (or willingness to apply for one).  

  • A commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
