Job Title: Pastoral Teacher (Alternative Provisions)
Location: Birmingham
Contract: On Going 
Daily Pay Rate: £170 - £260

About The Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the wellbeing and personal development of our students. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality pastoral care and guiding students through challenges that may impact their learning and personal growth.

You will work closely with other staff members, including subject teachers, support staff, and external agencies, to create individualised support plans for students, ensuring a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students, helping them overcome social, emotional, or behavioural barriers.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to create and implement individual education and behaviour plans.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and external agencies to support the holistic development of students.
  • Deliver small group or one-to-one mentoring sessions to address specific needs.
  • Assist in developing strategies for promoting positive behaviour and emotional resilience.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to regular reviews and assessments.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in an Alternative Provision or with students facing significant barriers to learning.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Ability to work with students who may present challenging behaviours.
  • A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people and a commitment to inclusion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS) is desirable, but candidates with significant pastoral experience will also be considered.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.
