Job description

About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a school n Bristol. This role is perfect for someone who is committed to providing high-quality, tailored education to students with special educational needs (SEN). You will play a key role in creating a supportive and nurturing environment, enabling students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, and learning disabilities.
  • Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to track and support student progress.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other educational professionals to support student development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external agencies regarding student progress and welfare.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and support students in developing positive behaviour strategies.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, either in mainstream or specialist settings.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN strategies, curriculum adaptations, and behaviour management techniques.
  • Empathy, patience, and strong communication skills to engage and support students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training in SEN, such as SENCO accreditation or ASD training.
  • Experience working with parents and external agencies to deliver joined-up support for pupils.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
