Full-Time Teaching Assistant (SEN) – Starting September 2024

Position: Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs)

Location: Liverpool, Wirral, St Helens

Start Date: September 2024

Contract Type: Full-Time

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in September 2024. This is a full-time role focused on providing one-to-one support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse and challenging SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of personalized learning plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the classroom teacher in managing student behaviour and promoting engagement.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in SEN support.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with SEN children in schools or other relevant settings.
  • Educational Background: A background in Psychology with transferable skills relevant to the role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Desirable:
    • Qualifications in SEN education or related fields.
    • Training in behaviour management and SEMH strategies.
  • Engage in meaningful work that promotes the academic and personal growth of students.
  • Access to professional development opportunities and ongoing training.
  • A welcoming school community with a strong emphasis on collaboration and support.
