JOB DESCRIPTION: SEMH Teaching Assistant

£12.90 - £13.50 Per hour

Job Duties:
- Supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in their academic and personal development
- Assisting teachers in implementing individual learning plans for students
- Providing one-on-one support to students to help them overcome barriers to learning
- Supervising students during lessons and break times
- Creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for students
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Enhanced DBS check
Education:
GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent
Experience:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
- Experience in a school or educational setting
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of SEMH and how it can impact learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong behaviour management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- First Aid certification
Working Conditions:
- Work in a school setting
- Potential for challenging behaviour from students with SEMH needs
- Regular interaction with teachers, parents, and external professionals

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
