Job description

Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location:

North West England, Greater Manchester, Wigan

Job Type:

Temporary, expected to work Full-Time hours

Salary:

£12.90 - £13.50 Per hour

Job Duties:

  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Assisting the teacher in implementing individual education plans
  • Providing one-to-one support to students to help them achieve learning outcomes
  • Supporting classroom management and behaviour strategies
  • Collaborating with the SENCO and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures

Education:

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

Experience:

Experience in a similar role within a school setting

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of SEMH strategies and interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid training
  • Mental Health First Aid qualification

Working Conditions:

This role may involve working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour and require a patient and understanding approach. The work is predominantly within a school environment and may involve some outdoor activities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
