Specialist Teaching Assistants Needed for SEMH Support
Location: Andover
Contract: Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available
Sector: Primary and Secondary Education
Are you dedicated to supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges? We have exciting opportunities for passionate and skilled Teaching Assistants to join our team, working with students across both primary and secondary levels.
About the Role:
In this role, you will be a key figure in helping students overcome their academic and emotional challenges. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalized support, work closely with educators to develop and implement effective learning plans, and contribute to a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Offer one-on-one or small group support to assist students in managing their emotions and developing coping strategies
- Collaborate with teachers to create and implement tailored educational plans for students with mental health needs
- Track student progress, providing feedback and making adjustments to support as required
- Uphold confidentiality and comply with all safeguarding and privacy regulations
- Support teachers in managing classroom behavior and addressing individual student needs
Candidate Profile:
- GCSEs or Level 2 Equivalent in Mathematics
- Previous experience in an educational or mental health setting, working with children, adolescents, or adults
- Knowledge of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Commitment to professional development and staying updated on best practices in SEMH support
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and readiness to respond to concerns

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
