SEMH Teacher
Job description
A secondary pupil referral unit in Manchester are looking for a full-time teacher to take on a position in January in which multiple subjects will need to be taught. The students are aged 11-16 and are all currently out of mainstream schooling due to various social, emotional and mental health needs, and so need additional support when in school.
Due to small classroom sizes, you will work with the students on multiple topics that they are currently studying, and may be expected to plan and mark work for some of these lessons.
Most of the students will have an EHCP that will guide their learning and support, so you will be expected to have knowledge of the different plans in place and be able to implement this into your work and teaching.
For this role you should:
- Have a teaching qualification and/or extensive teaching experience
- Be flexible with your work style and work in a way that is best for each student
- Have previous experience teaching secondary aged pupils in a school environment
- Have previous experience teaching or working young people with challenging behaviour
- Have a team teach qualification/equivalent qualification or be willing to undertake this during your time at the school
- Be confident in working and supporting students independently
- Be able to work alongside support staff to provide a comprehensive learning experience for students
This role will be a full-time role and you will be expected to work the full hours. Please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible if you are interested.
All applicants must have a permanent residence and right to work in the UK. If you are currently based in another country, please do not apply for these roles as we will not be able to process your application.
Any applicants that have been out of the UK for more than 6 months over the past 5 years will be asked to provide an overseas criminal clearance check. If you do not already have one of these, please apply for this before applying to this role.
When applying through Teaching Personnel, an enhanced DBS on the update service is a required document. If you do not have one already, you will be asked to apply for one through Teaching Personnel before you are able to start in a position.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
